EDISON PARK CENTENNIAL
The Grand Opening of Edison Park took place April 7th, 1926. Freshly completed, the entrance to the neighborhood along McGregor Blvd. included a Grecian maiden fountain, which was dedicated and donated to the City of Fort Myers that very day. The ceremony was attended by several hundred townsfolk and dignitaries, along with Thomas Edison himself, the namesake for the new development.
Fast-forward 100 years, the Edison Park Neighborhood Association hosted the Centennial Celebration on April 12, 2026. An estimated 500 guests enjoyed a Parade of residents, school children and parents, music, hot dogs, cake, games, history storyboards and, finally, the ribbon-cutting ceremony re-dedicating the entrance and the fountain.
